Filosofia y Lógica y Filosofia de la Ciencia

Partiendo de la sugerencia hecha por Hegel a propósito del pensamiento de Novalis, vamos a tratar de esbozar las características generales de la concepción de la subjetividad que aparece en la obra filosófica de este autor. En primer lugar, mostraremos el contexto en que surge esta teoría de la subjetividad; en segundo lugar, abordaremos su relación con el problema del juicio; y finalmente, destacaremos algunos aspectos de la filosofía novalisiana derivados directamente de su concepción del sujeto, especialmente la cuestión del arte, la religión y el destino del hombre en la historia.

El objetivo que anima las siguientes consideraciones tiene que ver con el modo en que tuvo lugar la recepción de la teoría ética y la filosofía de la religión kantiana entre los años 1795 y 1800 en los pensadores más importantes de la llamada Frühromantik, y cómo dicha recepción fue convertida en el cauce de una reflexión mucho más amplia, en la que confluyeron los más importantes acontecimientos espirituales del momento, como la revisión pietista de la Reforma, la elaboración de una nueva mitología, o la interpretación estética del fin de la historia.

El objetivo de este artículo es explorar la posibilidad de que el islam pudiera contribuir al surgimiento de una sociedad emancipada. Argumentaré que el islam, igual que otras religiones, debe ser interpretado como un proceso de auto-comprensión en el que la reflexión hermenéutica y filosófica tiene que jugar un papel importante. El camino hacia la emancipación en las sociedades islámicas implica la consideración del principio de la shahada: “La ilaha illa Allah” (“no hay más dios que Dios”) podría ser interpretado como la negación de toda forma de alienación que pudiera estar presente en la historia humana y como el fundamento de un concepto islámico de libertad.

Este artículo contrapone explicaciones científicas por medio de simulaciones al modo tradicional de explicación en física por medio de deducciones a partir de ecuaciones de derivadas parciales. Mi argumento es que las diferentes tecnologías utilizadas en la simulación constituyen lenguajes distintos que, a su vez, fundamentan relatos diferentes. Los relatos que acompañan a las simulaciones articulando su sentido suelen ser de tipo histórico (o histórico-natural). Explican los fenómenos naturales haciéndolos crecer, antes que refiriéndose a ellos por medio de leyes generales. Encontramos ejemplos de este tipo de simulaciones de crecimiento en la evolución de funciones de onda que describen el caos cuántico, la formación de copos de nieve, e investigaciones sobre genética etrusca.
Estos ejemplos sugieren algunos comentarios finales sobre la explicación histórica.

In this book, Lino Camprubí argues that science and technology were at the very center of the building of Franco’s Spain. Previous histories of early Francoist science and technology have described scientists and engineers as working “under” Francoism, subject to censorship and bound by politically mandated research agendas. Camprubí offers a different perspective, considering instead
scientists’ and engineers’ active roles in producing those political mandates. Many scientists and engineers had been exiled, imprisoned, or executed by the regime. Camprubí argues that those who remained made concrete the mission of “redemption” that Franco had invented for himself. This gave them the opportunity to become key actors — and mid-level decision makers — within the regime.

Camprubí describes a series of projects across Spain undertaken by the civil engineers and agricultural scientists who placed themselves at the center of their country’s forced modernization. These include a coal silo, built in 1953, viewed as an embodiment of Spain’s industrialized landscape; links between laboratories, architects, and the national Catholic church (and between technology and authoritarian control); vertically organized rice production and research on genetics; river management and the contested meanings of self-sufficiency; and the circulation
of construction standards by mobile laboratories as an engine for European integration. Separately, each chapter offers a fascinating microhistory that illustrates the coevolution of Francoist science, technology, and politics. Taken together, they reveal networks of people, institutions, knowledge, artifacts, and technological systems woven together to form a new state.

When, after years of geological and geophysical exploration, a
phosphate mine was discovered at Bu-Craa in 1964, Western Sahara received renewed geopolitical attention. Several countries competing for the control of the world fertilizer market, including Morocco, Spain, France, and the United States, developed diverging strategies to gain control of the mineral. technologies and involving reserve estimations, sabotage, and flexing of diplomatic muscles, Morocco took over the Spanish colony in 1975. While this secured Morocco’s place in the world market, it condemned the local population to exile and domination. This article explores three technological
stages of the exploitation of phosphate in Western Sahara that underpin the geopolitical history. This perspective yields new visions of cold war technology and postcolonial markets.

This paper aims at illuminating the links between spherical geography, Catholic empire and the Atlantic origins of the scientific revolution. Boldly put, the theory of the sphericity of the earth stood at the center of Iberian expansion and its imaginary; in turn, imperial patronage contributed to give a new status to that theory and to transform it into one of the sources for the early modern worldview.Three main moments constitute the previous argument. First, voyages developed along with spherical geography, in which lumps of earth were located in terms of latitude and longitude. Second, Iberian voyages of discovery developed spherical geography by enlarging the Greek known world, or oikumene, and gave new ground to the theory of the sphericity of the earth in the midst of medieval competing models, specifically one that held that the sphere of the earth was suspended over a sphere of water too large to be navigated.
